Baby Yoga
Yoga postures open the chest, shoulders and lengthen the spine relieving tension, aches and pains. Postnatal yoga strengthens and stabilize the pelvis after birth, helping your body recover more quickly. Baby is stimulated in a playful, calm and nurturing environment with gentle touch and movements that help them to reach their developmental milestones at their own pace. Yoga helps strengthen and open their bodies, the perfect antidote to too much time in car seats and pushchairs. Yoga also promotes good sleep patterns and relieves symptoms of colic, as internal organs are gently stimulated, aiding and improving digestion.
All classes end with a wonderful relaxation session – a state of deep rest equivalent to two hours sleep. What are you waiting for?!
We work to release areas of tightness and restriction which can often pull your body out of alignment. My experience in pre and postnatal teaching informs my classes in how to work from the inside out, progressing into more challenging asana only when your body is ready.
Pranayama/breathwork inquiries still the mind and bring a deeply restorative element to the work we do in class.
What is the difference between postnatal yoga and baby yoga?
Postnatal yoga works mostly with mum to restrengthen and restore core functionality. You are welcome to bring your baby to class.
Baby yoga is a practice involving both of you, a deeply connecting practice that is more baby-focussed than postnatal yoga. We sing songs and practice yoga with your baby to gently assist them reaching their development milestones. Mother & baby yoga is a lovely progression as your baby becomes more curious and active!
